The Lahore Campus

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus was established in January 2002 as a purpose-built university. It is located at 1.5 km Defence Road off Raiwind Road, Lahore, which is a 25-minute drive from the city center. Lahore is the capital of the province of Punjab and the 2nd largest city in Pakistan. It is referred to as the cultural heart of Pakistan, and has long been a center of educational and literary activity in the country.

The IMM Programme is based at the Department of Mathematics at CUI, part of a large and structured campus. The campus spreads over 185 acres with a 400,000 sq. ft covered area.

You’ve been admitted – what next?

Once you’re admitted to the program, a dedicated International Student Affairs (ISA) local unit will support you with:

  • Information on registration for courses

  • Visa facilitation

  • Reception at the airport upon arrival

  • Orientation with the city, campus and facilities

  • Contact with local embassies and missions of students' home countries

  • Regular social and extra-curricular activities.

CUI will also send you a pre-departure and arrival guide which gives information on the things to consider when booking your trip and arriving in Pakistan.

Accommodation and Meals

If you are interested in on-campus accommodation, be sure to apply at least one month before the start of the semester, as the number of spots is limited to 620 at the Don Hostel (men’s dormitory) and 512 at the Fatima Jinnah Hostel (women’s dormitory).

The monthly cost for one student is 11,000 rupees, which includes a shared room (2 students per room) with a shared bathroom, monthly utilities and two meals a day in the hostel cafeteria. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided to students at the hostel cafeteria. There is also a kitchen available in each hostel, for those students who wish to cook their own meals. There is an additional cafeteria at the university, where an average meal costs 200 rupees.

Should you not be able to book dormitory accommodation on time, or if you are more interested in finding private accommodation, there are apartments available near the campus in the following neighborhoods: Eden Villas, Labor Colony, Shershah Colony, LDA Avenue (to name only some). You can either seek help from the ISA unit or use the following websites to look for private accommodation: www.zameen.com, www.olx.com, www.ilaan.com. Another men’s hostel is available within close walking distance of the campus: Ehsaan Hostel, J Block, LDA Avenue, with the cost of 7.500 rupees for a place in a double room (foreign students) or 6.000 rupees (Pakistani students), including utilities but without meals included.

Transportation

The average daily return bus ticket is 200 rupees (the price varies depending on how far a student lives from the campus). There are also a variety of hostels and apartments near the University which are within walking distance.

Campus life

The following facilities are available on campus: a football ground, cricket ground, hockey ground, tennis court, badminton court, basketball court, volleyball court, photocopy shop, cafeteria, gym, library, doctor’s office, Internet facility, bank and three ATM machines.
