  • A minimum of 16 years of education leading to a degree Programme is required for applying to the IMM-LUMS Programme. Applicants are expected to have obtained their Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree from national or foreign institutions accredited or recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.

    Applicants who have obtained their degrees from institutions not listed with the HEC, Pakistan, will be required to obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the HEC. For further information, please visit www.hec.gov.pk.

    As a minimum academic performance, all applicants must have a CGPA of at least 2.8 (on a scale of 4) or at least 70% marks for the last university degree.

    Applicants applying to the IMM-LUMS Programmes must have their Bachelor’s (or Master's) degree in any one of the following areas:

    ● Mathematics

    ● Statistics

    ● Physics

    ● Any other closely related disciplines determined by the Mathematics Graduate Committee.

    NOTE:

    ● Applicants completing their last degree by July 30, 2023, are eligible to apply for MS Programme if they are meeting minimum admission requirements at the time of application submission.

    ● LUMS graduating class of 2023 are eligible to apply on the basis of their 7th semester result.

  • Applicants to the IMM-LUMS Mathematics Programme are required to take the following two (2) admission tests in order to be considered for Fall 2023 admission:

    1. LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT); and

    2. LUMS SBASSE Subject Test in Mathematics

    NOTE:

    ● LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT) is comprised of Quantitative, Verbal, and Analytical sections.

    ● The LGAT and SBASSE Subject Test Scores will be valid only for the admission of Fall 2023.

    ● The LGAT and SBASSE Subject Test scores will be used for application evaluation and hence will not be disclosed to applicants.

    Exemption for applicants who have taken Graduate Record Examination (GRE) tests:

    ● Applicants who have taken the Graduate Record Examination GRE (General) (through the Educational Testing Service USA) during the last two (2) years (i.e., after May 07, 2021) and obtained an aggregate score of 300 in the quantitative and verbal sections may choose not to take the LGAT.

    ● Applicants who have taken the GRE Subject Test in Mathematics (through the Educational Testing Service USA) during the last two (2) years (i.e. after May 07, 2021) and obtained a score at the 60th percentile or above may choose not to take the SBASSE Subject Test in Mathematics.

  • Shortlisted applications will be reviewed by the relevant committee to finalize the admission decision. Applicants are encouraged to provide complete information regarding their academic achievement, research reports, attended workshops, extracurricular activities, and must tell LUMS about their success stories in order to substantiate their applications. Applicants must provide complete and correct information regarding their academics, work experience and test attempts. The application will be evaluated on the basis of information provided at the time of application submission.

    Performance in Interview

    Shortlisted applicants may be requested to appear for an interview.

  • The admission application will be considered for evaluation after the successful completion of following Four (4) STEPS by the applicants on or before the stipulated deadlines:

    1. Online Admission Application submission (click here);

    2. Online submission of scanned copies of required supporting documents;

    3. Submission of an appropriate Application Processing Fee; and

    4. Online Submission of the Letter of Recommendation by the Referees.

  • ● The application processing fee of Rs. 2,900

    ● LGAT and SBASSE Subject Test fee of Rs. 1,800

    NOTE:

    ● Applicants must complete and submit their Online Admission application on or before April 11, 2023; 5:00 pm (PKST).

    ● Applicants are required to Online submit the scanned copies of all supporting documents on or before April 14, 2023.

    ● After the successful submission of the Online application, applicants must make the Processing Fee payment by the deadline.

    ● Referees must submit completely filled Letters of Recommendation by the given deadline.

    Completion of all steps is mandatory. Application, documents, or fee received after the stipulated deadline will not be processed.

Admission Criteria for International Mathematics Master (IMM-LUMS) Programme

Applicants must meet the minimum eligibility criteria in order to be considered for admission to the Programme. The International Mathematics Master (IMM-LUMS) Programme at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) is a two-year Programme.

Admission is purely merit-based and rests solely on the following criteria:

●       Academic Record;

●       Performance in Admission Tests;

●       Application Review;

●       Interview Performance (if shortlisted); 

●       Letters of Recommendation; and

●       Submission of complete Online Application, and supporting documents by the stipulated deadline

NOTE:

This is the minimum criteria that applicants need to fulfill in order to be eligible to apply. Fulfillment of this criteria does not guarantee admission to IMM-LUMS.
